Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Unveiling Set for August 23

As rumored, Samsung will be unveiling an eighth-generation Note phablet next month.
According to a press release issued Friday, the Unpacked media event will be taking place on Wednesday, August 23 at Park Avenue Armory in New York City at 11am EST.

The Galaxy Note 8 will compete directly with the iPhone 8. Both devices will feature a bezel-less design at the front, wireless charging, and are completely made of glass. While the Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display, the iPhone 8 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch display. The Note 8 is also going to be Samsung’s first handset to feature a dual-camera setup so it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against Apple’s implementation.

While the Galaxy Note 8 was also initially rumored to come with a fingerprint scanner embedded into its display, it has now been confirmed that it will come with the same traditional fingerprint scanner located at its back as seen on the Galaxy S8.

Despite the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco last year, Samsung has met with tremendous success this year with its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ and with the Galaxy Note 8, the company is looking to further build on it.

Samsung says the phone was specifically designed for “people who move through barriers to do more of what matters to them.” A live stream of the event will be available on YouTube.
