Facebook Will Now Tell You a Detailed Weather Forecast

You can now safely delete those weather apps on your iPhone as Facebook just launched a brand new weather forecast section in its iPhone and iPad app and on the web, powered by Weather.com.

An updated version of its earlier weather greetings in News Feed, this latest feature addition indicates that the social networking behemoth continues to seek out new ways to increase user engagement and boost the stickiness of its platform.

The app will show users either a 24-hour or 5-day forecast, just by tapping on the “weather greetings” Those greetings have been showing up for about a year now, so Facebook is really just expanding that specific feature. But they don’t always show up every time a user opens the app, so Facebook has included a dedicated Weather section, which can be found through the hamburger menu located on the bottom-right of the app. From there, just select “More,” and you’ll find “Weather” if you scroll down.

If you need more data, you can select the “see more weather info” at the bottom of the dedicated Weather section, which will take you directly to Weather.com for more in-depth analysis of how the day, or week, is looking.

“We are doing this because our goal is to develop products that connect people to the things they care about most and create moments of joy in people’s day, like simply telling you that it’s going to rain later,” a spokesperson said.
