Apple Adds Four New Single Sign-On Providers

Single Sign-On, a feature that allows supported video apps to use your saved cable credentials, is launching some time next week alongside iOS 10.2 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and tvOS 10.1 for the fourth-generation Apple TV. Ahead of these software updates, an additional four providers have pledged to support Single Sign-On at launch.

The following Single Sign-On providers have been added:
  • CenturyLink Prism
  • Hawaiian Telecom
  • MetroCast
  • GTA (available in Guam)
Single sign-on officially went live in early November, alongside beta releases of iOS 10.2 and tvOS 10.1. With it, iOS and tvOS users can sign in once with their credentials post which they will be automatically logged in to that service in any app. It should make signing into multiple apps easier, which will make watching content faster as well.

Earlier this week, Apple seeded the latest beta for iOS 10.2, and just today seeded the latest beta for developers for tvOS 10.1. The public release is expected to arrive next week for both platforms.

The App Store’s dedicated page will highlight Single Sign-On-compatible apps when the feature releases for public consumption.

Single Sign-On apps can be managed on iOS 10.2 devices in Settings → TV Provider. On tvOS 10.1, the feature can be found in Settings → Accounts → TV Provider.
