Apple Sends Invites to September 7 Event: ‘See You On the 7th’

See you on the 7th, reads the invite that Apple sent to the media on Monday morning. Held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, the event will of course be focused on the new iPhone 7, but will also likely see a new Apple Watch 2 unveiled, and possibly a new MacBook Pro.

Rumors surrounding the iPhone 7 have been going around for months. Among the most likely one to materialize, the iPhone 7 will see the removal of the headphone jack, in favor of the already existing Lightning port. Overall, the device will likely keep the same form factor, doing away with some of the antenna lines on the back plate, and featuring a pressure sensitive Home button, 3GB of RAM, as well as a dual camera system. Other rumors have suggested the iPhone 7 base model will start with 32GB of storage space, instead of 16GB as in years past models. It’s been suggested we could see a 256GB option as well.

A few key changes will be the cameras, as noted by an earlier report today. That includes rumored optical image stabilization (OIS) for the iPhone 7 in its 12-megapixel camera. The iPhone 7 Plus is said to boast a pair of 12-megapixel cameras on the back, however, which will apparently be one of the major new additions for the new handsets.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are said to also feature a boost in built-in storage, up to 256GB this time around, and also drop the 3.5mm headphone jack from the bottom of each model.

The event will probably also include stage time for the Apple Watch 2, which was first introduced two years ago. Just like the new iPhones, the Apple Watch 2 is believed to be a modest update to the first design, with only a slight change here and there to the physical design. A recent report suggested it will at least boost battery size, with separate reports pointing to the inclusion of built-in GPS this time around.

What are you most excited about for this event? iPhone? Apple Watch? Surprises?
