Apple Pay Expands in Australia with Support from ANZ

Apple Pay has gained support for credit and debit cards from the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), with the exception of the ANZ MasterCard cards and corporate cards, Reuters has confirmed yesterday.

That means Apple Pay users in the area can now use the banking group’s credit and debit cards with the service.

It also indicates that ANZ cardholders can expect their ANZ Access Advantage, ANZ Rewards Platinum Card, and the ANZ Business Advantage cards are all supported. Both Visa and American Express cards from the banking group are supported as well.

It’s worth noting that the ANZ banking group is one of the four major banking entities in the region, so it would appear that Apple is beginning to make some headway in Australia. However, it doesn’t guarantee that Apple has support for the other banks’ cards on the way.

As it stands, Apple Pay is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Canada, and in Singapore as well. In some instances, like in Singapore, Canada, and previously in Australia, Apple Pay support is only available with a limited partnership, like with American Express.
