The new Apple TV will feature a remote with motion sensors, like the Wii remote

The new Apple TV expected to be unveiled at next month’s event will feature a remote control with motion sensors, reports TechCrunch. Citing reliable sources, the site says the remote “likely includes several axis’ worth of sensors that put its control on par with a Nintendo Wii remote.”

In the years that followed, the Wii would see plenty of support, and some truly interesting game scenarios in the living room. It not only helped folks stay healthy with workout routines, but made bowling, table tennis (ping pong!), skiing, and plenty of other sports accessible right in the living room, and the party element was more than obvious right out of the gate.

Now, in 2015, Apple is said to be introducing a revamped Apple TV, with a new set-top box with more power under the hood, a new platform with supports for apps, its own App Store, and even Siri compatibility, plus much more. Firmly within that more category is a new Apple TV remote, which has already been said to feature a touch pad, more physical buttons, and feature a new design, too.

The Apple TV is much more than a hobby for Apple these days, and the upcoming launch of the set-top box with all of these improvements and additions is proof of that. It will be interesting to see how a popular feature from 2006 will make a dent in today’s living room.

Apple is obviously gearing up for something major, sending out media invitations on Thursday for a September 9 event at the gigantic Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The company is expected to use the event to unveil new iPhones, an Apple TV and possibly new iPads.

So what do you think ?
