The best photos taken with an iPhone over the last year

Apple's iPhone is well-known with it's high resolution camera and with each new iPhone generation Apple release, we can notice that the company is focusing on improving the camera quality to give the best products..

And every year some of the best are highlighted by the iPhone Photography Awards, or IPPAWARDS. Here are this year’s stunning picks.

“From intimate, thought-provoking moments to stunning, captivating scenes, this year’s iPhone Photography Award winners are nothing short of impressive,” says the IPPAWARDS.

“The three Photographers of the Year Awards go to Michal Koralewski of Poland, David Craik of the United Kingdom and Yvonne Lu of the United States. Their photographs take full advantage of the iPhone to quietly capture their subjects without disturbing the atmosphere.”

The photo below was awarded first place, and was taken by Michal Koralewski in Koziegłowy, Poland.

“His face was the first thing I noticed,” Koralewski says, describing the accordionist playing traditional Polish songs, “so expressive and beautiful in it’s own way. It was like an open book. You could almost read his life story from the wrinkles.”

The photo below, taken by David Craik in Surrey, England, was awarded second place.

“After the first bird landed and I saw the shadow on the white wall behind it,” he explained. “I knew this was a great image to be captured. Now it was just a case of operating the iPhone properly and finding the best composition.”

The third-place winner below was taken by Yvonne Lu of New York as she traveled along the Hudson Valley River on her way back to the big city.

“The couple looks like they don’t need anything else in the world,” Yu explains. “I also found the romantic, vintage feel very entrancing. The two looked as if they could be coming back from a movie set.”

These are the top three photos of 2015, but you can see the top three winners across each category — as well as the many honorable mentions — on the IPPAWARDS website. There are individual categories for animals, architecture, children, flowers, food, landscapes, nature, panorama, people, seasons, travel, and many more.
