First Unboxing photos and video of the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition

Units of the staggeringly-expensive Apple Watch Edition began shipping this week, and some customers have already started receiving their orders. Yesterday, a user over in this MacRumors forum thread posted a series of photos showing his new golden wearable.

Until now, we have only seen celebrities like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Jay Z wearing the gold Watch Edition, which cost $10,000 to $17,000, and an additional $1,500 for Apple Care+.

So not surprisingly, we’re already seeing the first unboxing photos and videos of the gold Apple Watch. There are some differences.
  • The gold Apple Watch Edition comes in a colored leather square shaped box. The Apple Watch Sport comes in a long rectangular plastic box, while the stainless steel Apple Watch comes in a square shaped box as well but made of plastic.
  • Inside the box, it includes a cleaning cloth of the same color as the box with “Watch Edition” embossed on it.
  • Update: It also include a booklet which explains the manufacturing process involved in making the gold Apple Watch.
  • Update: The box also doubles up as a charger. The box has a Lightning connector on one side, and the inside of the box has the Watch’s magnetic round charger pad, standing vertically.
  • When you turn it on for the first time, it displays the description of the Watch’s hardware materials in gold, and not in silver like the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport models.
The photos are of a 42mm Yellow Gold Edition with black Sports band. The box looks similar to that of the Stainless Steel Apple Watch, but is dark blue (almost purple) in color and includes a matching cleaning cloth. Check out the images below to see more differences.

Here I am going to leave you with these images:
