Tim Cook: Customer response to Apple Watch ‘extraordinary’

Tim Cook took time out of his day on Friday to visit his local Palo Alto Apple Store, to greet folks trying on the Apple Watch. The CEO shook hands, posed for photos, and fielded questions regarding Apple’s highly anticipated wearable.

According to Cook, the response to the Apple Watch from consumers has been “extraordinary,” and added that orders “are great,” up to this point. Of course, one would imagine that this will continue for quite some time, especially as stock eventually evens out and people don’t have to wait weeks to strap the wearable onto their wrist.

The interviewer at CNBC asked Cook which Apple Watch he wears day-in and day-out, and Cook said that he prefers the stainless steel Watch with a white rubber strap, but that he swaps out bands usually depending on the situation. And, as noted by 9to5Mac, the Watch that Cook was wearing during the interview had a custom red crown, which has previously only been seen on some Watch Edition models.

The Apple Watch officially launches on April 24, with prices starting at $349. If you weren’t able to make it into an Apple Store today to see the Watch in person, be sure to check out our hands-on video for some first impressions of the device.
