Sony drops Steve Jobs biopic, Universal rumored to take over

Sony Pictures has dropped the highly-anticipated Steve Jobs biopic penned by Aaron Sorkin, according to Deadline. The outlet reports tonight that Sony has put the film in turnaround—meaning that another studio can purchase the movie.

Despite some trouble regarding its lead actor, the pre-production work of the movie was going along speedily.

Deadline reports that Universal Studio is very interested in taking over the movie with the deal being closed by tomorrow.
I’m hearing very strongly that Universal is indeed locking down the Jobs project and essentially giving it a green light. This should be closed by tomorrow latest. That means the project shouldn’t lose any momentum despite the studio move.
Christian Bale was first expected to play the role of Steve Jobs but later backed out because he did not feel he was right for the part. It is now rumored that Michael Fassbender will depict the role of Steve Jobs, but there has been no official announcement on this regard. Aaron Sorkin, however, did reveal recently that an announcement about the lead actor of the movie is imminent.
