Leaked photo reveals 2GB RAM chips for iPad Air 2

Third-party Apple service provider GeekBar has published a photo of the 2 GB Elpida RAM module via their Weibo account, which it claims is for the iPad Air 2.

The RAM module appears to be similar to the 1GB module found in the current iPad Air and corroborates a previous report that Apple will update the iPad Air with 2GB of RAM but leave the third generation iPad mini with 1GB of RAM.

2GB RAM would be a welcome improvement. There have been rumors that Apple is working on split-screen multitasking for the iPad, which will also need more memory.

Apple is expected to unveil the new iPad Air at a special event on October 16th. A physical mockup of the device surfaced recently with a thinner designer and Touch ID. It's also believed that Apple will launch new iMacs and OS X Yosemite at the event.
