How to use Handoff Feature in OS X Yosemite and iOS 8

Apple products have always been designed to work together beautifully. But now they may really surprise you. With iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, you’ll be able to do more wonderful things than ever before. So here comes a new feature called Handoff that lets you seamlessly switch back and forth from iOS and Mac without losing your progress in a document you’re working on.

By linking all of your iOS (and eventually OS X) devices using a common iCloud account, you can seamlessly switch between devices without losing any work or having to wait for servers to sync content.

How To Enable handoff on your iPhone ?

Simply you can go to Settings--->General---> Handoff & Suggested Apps and enable the Handoff toggle.
In order to make handoff feature work you must ensure that you've done the following steps:

  • Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on both your iOS device and Mac.
  • Now whenever you use a Mac app that supports Handoff, you’ll see an icon for it on the bottom left of your iPhone or iPad’s look screen, or on the first slot of the multitasking switcher.

Additionally, phone calls will begin showing up on your iPad, where you can then answer and talk as if you were on your iPhone. You can place calls from your iPad using the "Audio" pane of the FaceTime app, or by tapping on a phone number in the Contacts app.

I find Handoff very useful every day, and am hoping that more developers add support for this feature in their iOS and Mac apps. Let me know in the comments below what you think of Handoff.
