Is Japan Display Producing The 5.5-inch Quad HD Display Panel For iPhone 6?

Apple has been reported to put finishing touches on the iPhone 6. And if the rumors and insider reports are to be believed, the handset will feature a Ultra Retina display coming in two sizes; 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches.

Keeping that in mind, this 5.5-inch panel from Japan Display seems to be of interest. The panel, unveiled this week, is 5.5-inches in measurement and is Quad HD/ WQHD variety, and features a solution of 1,440* 2,560 and 538 pixels per inch.

The report from CNET says:
“Japan Display could be providing a hint of iPhone attractions to come. The company announced on Thursday that it has developed a 5.5-inch-wide Quad HD, aka, WQHD, display with a resolution of 1,440x 2,560 vertical pixels as a display format for “leading-edge smartphones.”
The Japanese company — a major supplier of iPhone displays — said it will begin shipping the 5.5-inch LCD in April.”
And here’s a photo of the display:

Perhaps it’s no coincidence that Japanese news outlet Nikkei reported earlier that Apple is launching the new iPhone with two displays. It also named Japan Display as the supplier, and called panel resolution to be higher than current iPhone models.

Yet, there are few details known about the iPhone, as nothing more is consistently reported apart from the display. It is being purported to carry a refreshed design, 8 MP back camera, 2GB RAM, A8 processor and more.

Some reports call for the summer launch, but we think it’s going to come in fall.

What will be your display pick? 4.7 or 5.5?
