How To Make iBooks Read To You In iOS 7

The feature called VoiceOver can be used to make the device read iBooks to you. This post covers a few tricks that help take advantage of this feature, while you can leave the handset to do the rest. This includes a few basic steps, which will help beginner users.

First of all, the build in screen reader called VoiceOver needs to be activated. You can single tip on any item for VoiceOver to read it. Some of the things it tells you is whether you’re in landscape or portrait mode, the name of the app etc.

Let’s jump in on how to get it done.

Making VoiceOver active

1. Head over to Settings – General – Accessibility.
2. Switch on the VoiceOver toggle.
3. Drag the speed range towards the endpoints to adjust the speaker rate.
4. Tap on Accessibility one time and tap two times to go back.
5. Use three fingers to go to Accessibility Shortcut. Select it and double tap it.
6. Select VoiceOver. It can then be launched by three taps on the Home button at anytime.
