Those of you waiting for an iPhone 4S unlock, we have got some great news. MuscleNerd advised his users to stay on iOS 5 if they want to unlock their 4S. So, if you are on iOS 5.0.1, hurry up and downgrade to iOS 5. Also, if you are on build 9A406, downgrade to 9A405 while Apple is still signing both.

He also noted that the iPhone Dev Team will release an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 as well as iOS 5.0.1. A4 devices, namingly iPhone 4, iPad 1 and iPod Touch, currently support only iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak.

While there are no promises that iPhone 4S will be unlocked, we remember MuscleNerd mentioned “a promising unlock” back in November for the 4S.

Quick reminder. iPhone4 users on baseband 4.11.08 should avoid updating to iOS 5.0.1 since the unlock for iOS 5 will definitely come first. So, if you are on iOS 5.0.1, you should definitely downgrade to iOS 5.

As we told you a few days ago, Sherif Hashim, one of the top hackers is working on unlocking iPhone on iOS 5.
